This is definitely one of those “it depends” topics, blog comment links aren’t going to move the needle in terms of rankings directly, especially since most are nofollow. But I still use them in my strategy for a few good reasons:
- They diversify my backlink profile
- They help with indexing new pages
- Some of them still send real traffic
I’ve actually had a few quality blogs where my comment was insightful and the moderator approved it with a link, these sites had a DA over 50, and my comment got replies and clicks, so while I didn’t get direct ranking boosts, I did get brand visibility and referral traffic.
The key is not spamming, i always leave thoughtful comments that actually engage with the article, and I never use keywords in the name field, just my name or brand.
