I get this question all the time, and honestly, it depends on a bunch of factors, site age, link type, competition, etc.
For me, contextual backlinks on indexed blogs usually show some impact in 2–4 weeks, that’s when I see my target page either move up a few spots or at least start showing in GSC for new terms.
On the flip side, homepage links or low-traffic sites can take 6–8 weeks to show any movement, if at all, and if your content isn’t well-optimized, the backlink alone won’t help much, one thing I’ve noticed lately: indexation speed matters a lot, if the page linking to you doesn’t get crawled quickly, the link might as well not exist., i use the “Inspect URL” feature in Search Console to manually request indexing when I land new links.
So, TL;DR:
- Expect results in 2–6 weeks for quality links
- Faster if your content is already ranking near the top 20
- Slower if the site is brand new or highly competitive
